Informal Poll

I just want to know when you put up your Christmas lights? (Obviously only if you do that kind of thing). The reason I'm asking is because D and I were discussing when to put up our outside lights vs when to put up the tree. What prompted this is that a house down the street has had their Christmas lights, and I mean lights on the house, spiral Christmas tree in the yard, bushes decorated, the whole shabang , for 2 WEEKS! I mean, I love Christmas as much as the next person, but come on, Christmas lights on November 5th?!

What's next? Christmas lights before Halloween? I get that the stores have their Christmas stuff earlier and earlier every year, but that's just them trying to make more money. What makes seemingly normal people put up Christmas lights that early?

Anyway, back to the the discussion between D and I. D wants to wait to put up the tree and decorations until around December 10th. I think it's perfectly acceptable to put them up anytime after Thanksgiving but since Thanksgiving is so early this year, I'd like to put them up the first weekend in December (which this year is December 1st and 2nd). Either way, I put the wreath and french horn thingy out on the door and front porch right after Thanksgiving, but that doesn't bother him as much as the lights and tree early.

So, I'd like to know when everyone else puts up their Christmas decorations. I probably won't win this one anyway, since he's the one that actually climbs on the later to put up the lights and hauls home the tree, but I still want to know. Also, just as a tidbit of information, since I'm Cuban, I keep the tree and decorations up until after January 6th, which is Three Kings Day. (This drives D nuts since he'd like the tree down January 2nd, but he's given in on the inevitability of it, and just enjoys his college football bowl games instead of taking down the tree).

Tell me what you do, and why, if you don't mind sharing. Thanks.
